Tom Brady.  That’s who.  Fourteen years as a starter.  Six Super Bowls.  Four rings.  Hot wife.

Unless, of course, you count any objective measure of QB talent, in which case Brady falls short on almost all of them

Brady has been part of a very consistently coached team with a lot of top-tier talent, but he has failed to distinguish himself the way Favre, Peyton, Marino, Elway, or Montana did. The truth is any of those guys were better quarterbacks, but few, if any, had better teams to play QB for.

Ah, yes, Peyton Manning.

The one who missed a snap by his center in the 2014 Super Bowl and then couldn’t keep up since.

on February 11, 2015

By “keeping up” you are of course referring to his 12-4 season and yet another playoff appearance. He has passed for 16,000 (that’s THOUSAND) more yards than Brady, and a higher QB rating. Oh, and then there are the records…. including:

  • Most Career Touchdown Passes: 530
  • Most touchdown passes, season: 55 (2013)
  • Most seasons with at least 4,000 passing yards: 14 (1999–2004, 2006–2010, 2012–2014)
  • Most passing yards, season: 5,477 (2013)
  • Most games with 40+ pass attempts in a season: 10 (2010)

  • Most regular season games with at least 300 passing yards: 84
  • Most regular and postseason games with at least 300 passing yards: 93

  • Most wins as a starting QB in a decade, regular & postseason: 124 (2000s)

Like I said, the Patriots may be an all-time great team, but Brady is an all-time mediocre quarterback.

While my Boston-born husband is the Patriots fan, I feel like we live in a time of great quarterbacks. I would say Brett Favre with John Elway and Peyton Manning close behind. Maybe because they were/are more fun to watch.

I’d put my money on Joe Montana. Nobody had his self confidence. He knew he’d beat you, and his opponents new he’d beat them.

You can’t go wrong with Joe Montana. You also can’t go wrong with Brady, Elway (I went to High School with him… some of the greatest games I’ve seen. He was amazing)… and for a few years, I’d take Steve Young over anyone.

Oh give me a break. It seems that a quarterback isn’t the collective noun for Nickelback, a point of confusion that has led me to post here with little of consequence to report, I must say.

Why pose this question? Brady, obviously.

Brady? Nope. Manning and Montana come to mind. Brady looks like a woman, falls down whenever a defender breathes near him and cries every time someone actually does touch him. If the question was greatest crybaby in the history of the NFL, then Brady wins hands down.
