So its not like everyone hates you, but if you are the type of person to force your beliefs onto other people than you are most likely going to be disliked. Many people have grown to hate vegans due to what the vegan teacher have said or done to many other people.

Yeah totally understandable, every movement has bad apples. Do you think that vegans are wrong in their ideology though?

on February 16, 2022

I’ll share my input if that’s okay. I believe that vegans are wrong in ideology because they are limiting themselves for no reason. I have no problem with vegans but my personal view is that it’s not wrong to kill animals for food. Nature just so happens to say that animals kill other animals for food. It has been this way since the start. It’s classic Darwinism. I do not see a reason to feel bad for eating an animal. On the other side of the argument, I would feel terrible eating dog meat. This is because dogs are personable and they have features that are attractive to humans. In terms of my own moral guidelines, I would eat any animal that doesn’t directly help humans. For example dogs and horses have helped humans, therefore I would never dog or horse meat. It’s all very unclear but since I believe that Darwinism is inevitable, I have no problem eating meat, but I respect if you feel otherwise.

Hey! So discussing the ideology of veganism I would find it to be morally superior, opposed to “limiting ourselves for no reason.” To tackle the main argument of “nature tho”, the evolutionary development of humans in the very beginning was mainly fruit and some seeds, then when the advancement of cooking with heat, starches, and roots vastly improve our diets. Being that hunting was extremely energy-intensive and dangerous, meat was a rare occurrence. So no, we haven’t been eating meat “since the beginning of time”, but if we were to even consider that to be a basic truth, would it have any bearing morally? Just because something has been done for a long time or is natural, does that mean it’s moral? It’s natural to be violent at times and could hurt others, the oppression of women has been done for a long time and is evidently natural, does it make it right? (also are evolutionary makeup is more suited for plant-based foods anyway) Secondly, picking and choosing which animals we would prefer to exploit or treat decently shouldn’t be based on how said animal can help us, I’m guessing you wouldn’t eat whales and they aren’t helping humans in any way, we just find them cool. We can find any animal cool, including the ones we eat. To put it plainly, it’s not logical. Anyways, thanks for giving your opinion.

Great points. I wouldn’t justify something because it has been practiced for a long time, but seeing that it is practiced as a system of the food web, I would justify it based on Darwinism and natural occurrences. I understand your point that there are many other animals that do not help humans as much but many would not taste good to put it simply. I know there are many other animals applied to your statement but for whales specifically, they provide large amounts of oxygen.

Again, we wouldn’t be basing morals on Darwinism or natural occurrences for any other situation. And the taste of an animal is subjective, many find dogs and cats to taste good. But it makes many people uncomfortable because of the basis that we hold. If, thinking without any personal basis towards eating certain animals and loving others, what true logical reason is there?

You absolute clown. We don’t hate you. We hate when you try and shove your way of eating down our goddamn throat.

on February 13, 2022

Lol okay, do you think vegans, in general, are wrong in their ideology, or our actions aren’t justified?

on February 18, 2022

@Pidgey: Yo not all vegans want to shove their ideology down your throat. I think Spreadlovenotwar understands that not everyone hates vegans. Like Bangaalore said, I think that vegans have gained a bad image because of people like ThatVeganTeacher. I don’t actually agree with vegans but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t respect them.

My bad. AndrewMcG was the one who discussed ThatVeganTeacher.

Hi Spread, always good to see you. I think the demonization of vegans is just a fun meme for non vegans. The same way we love to shit on people super into vaping. Its just that there are so many cringey vegans that it has become fun to make fun of them, and that accidentally results in us generalizing vegans as a whole.

So, its just like AndrewMcG was saying. And I think if you get this response and then ask if there is something wrong with the ideology, you’re trying to tie the two together when the people who shit on vegans are really shitting on specific vegans and don’t actually care about the ideology of veganism. I think most people that meme on vegans would just say, yeah, if you don’t want to hurt animals thats a fine choice for you to make but I’m not changing my ways.

on February 16, 2022

Yeah, I truly laugh at a lot of different vegan memes tbh and never really find them too serious. But I think as a whole they can create stereotypes just like any joke. But yeah, totally agree.

on February 16, 2022

Yeah, that’s an interesting thing. Because obviously they produce stereotypes which do affect individual vegans. Yeah it sucks.
