Should One Have a College Degree To Run For President?

Liberals say Scott Walker isn’t educated enough to be president. Of course George W. Bush had degrees from Yale and Harvard Business School, but they didn’t think he was smart enough either.

Well, I guess that Bill Gates, Larry Ellison and Steve Jobs weren’t smart enough to start their companies. then. They all left college without graduating.

This notion that people are unqualified for success because they never shelled out a hundred grand for a piece of paper is ludicrous. Abraham Lincoln is regarded as one of our greatest Presidents despite ONE YEAR of formal education.

Intelligence is demonstrated by a drive to continually think, challenge assumptions, and push yourself to learn. It is not shown by a degree. As I have told many people, there are a LOT of people that have degrees they earned with a 1.6 GPA.

Yeah, this is silly. A college degree would be nice, as it does have its value, but I don’t think it should be a requirement. History is full of achievers who never went to college and there are plenty of college graduates who are dumb as a box of rocks. For that matter, there are plenty of very educated people who are book smart and yet profoundly stupid in other ways.

Oh give me a break. Is there anything more incongruous, if I might use that word inappropriately, then a question regarding the mandatory qualifications of a job for which no preparation can be adequate? I’m reminded of a story my great Aunt Nonie used to tell. It involved a gentleman who was ill-prepared for his wedding night. It seems the gentleman in question had a variety of questions about the events he wast soon to encounter, and he was provided amusing answers that brought with them an unsurprised twist of misinterpretation, although I’m not completely remembering the specifics at this particular moment.

Interesting, made me think. It’s true that a college degree does not necessarily mean someone is smarter than one without. In fact I bet plenty of American voters would find it heartening to have a success story of a successful politician becoming president.

Ben Carson has two medical degrees. I wouldn’t say those degrees establish automatic qualification for the presidency.

The American people vote for who they want to represent them, if someone is deemed not educated enough by the majority of people then they won’t be elected, hopefully.

There should be no restriction on the presidency. None at all.

People should vote for a candidate, and that person becomes president regardless of anything.

If the public thinks an uneducated man is the best person for their country, then he is. That’s how democracy works.

Yes because it would prevent dumbasses with little amounts of braincells to become a leader of a country. Think about allowing a two year old to run for president, stupid… yet somehow amaricans let this thickheaded corn husk head to have control of an entire country.
